What to know
First recorded GP diagnoses, so people who never consult are missed; US insurance-claims and Israeli health-plan studies report rates three to four times higher. GBD 2021 publishes a worldwide count of new alopecia areata cases, but it counts relapsing episodes rather than first diagnoses, so it was not used.
Arithmetic
0.26 per 1,000 person-years x 10 = 2.6 per 10,000 person-years.
